# Slack — Team Messaging API: overview

Slack is where work flows. It's where the people you need, the information you share, and the tools you use come together to get things done.

- **consumer access level:** Any workspace member by default; if the workspace has app approval turned on, a Workspace Owner must approve the app first.
- **rate limits:** Per method, per workspace: channel listing 20+ requests/minute (Tier 2); posting about 1 message/second per channel.
- **important to know:** Slack receives leads as messages, not records. Creating a lead through the Lead API posts a Block Kit "New lead" message to the channels the consumer selected; nothing is stored in Slack as a lead, so it is a notification target rather than a place to read leads back from.
- **sandbox note:** Free via the Slack Developer Program (an Enterprise org sandbox); an ordinary free workspace also works for testing.
