How to Connect to Fortnox

Fortnox uses OAuth 2.0 to authorise access. You do not need to create API keys or copy credentials — you connect by logging in to your Fortnox account and granting access.

Prerequisites

  • An active Fortnox account with access to the data you want to share (invoices, bookkeeping, suppliers, etc.)
  • Your Fortnox user must have sufficient permissions for the resources you intend to use

Connecting in Vault

  1. Open Apideck Vault and find Fortnox in the list of available connectors.
  2. Click Connect.
  3. You will be redirected to the Fortnox login page. Sign in with your Fortnox credentials.
  4. Review the list of permissions the integration is requesting and click Authorise.
  5. You will be redirected back to Vault. The connection status will show Connected.

Permissions

The integration requests the following access scopes from your Fortnox account:

ScopeWhat it covers
invoiceCustomer invoices
customerCustomer records
supplierSupplier records
supplierinvoiceSupplier invoices (bills)
articleArticles / products
bookkeepingChart of accounts, vouchers, financial years
paymentInvoice and supplier-invoice payments
companyinformationCompany information
orderPurchase orders
archiveAttachments and inbox files
projectProjects (tracking categories)
connectfileConnecting uploaded files to invoices, bills, and vouchers

Your Fortnox user account must have read (and write, if needed) access to these areas in Fortnox. If your user role is restricted, contact your Fortnox administrator.

Reconnecting

Fortnox access tokens expire after 1 hour and are refreshed automatically. The underlying refresh token expires after 45 days of inactivity. If your connection stops working, return to Vault and click Reconnect to re-authorise.
