# Plan your accounting integration

Turn a workflow and connector into an implementation brief and a customer connection checklist.

This plan does not verify connector support. Check each required operation, field and permission before inviting a customer or writing data.
Selecting a connector tailors the links and handoff documents. Guide examples keep their original connector; adapt them only after checking coverage.

Use the [interactive planner](https://developers.apideck.com/integration-plan) to choose a workflow and connector. Its URL preserves your choices. Paste the build or review brief into a coding agent, or hand it to a developer. Send the customer checklist to the person connecting their software. Copy these tailored documents from that page. This Markdown document contains the general checklists; query parameters do not tailor this mirror.

## Developer checklist

- [ ] Confirm the customer's exact accounting product and edition, target company or subsidiary, and test environment.
- [ ] Check operation and field coverage for this workflow. Record missing or unknown capabilities and agree a fallback before committing to the integration.
- [ ] Enable Accounting and the selected connector in your Apideck application. Keep API credentials on your server and map each tenant to its own consumer.
- [ ] Create the customer's Vault session on your backend. Ask an authorized customer administrator to complete the connector's maintained setup instructions.
- [ ] Verify the connection and required settings on your backend, then make a supported read from the intended company. Closing Vault alone does not establish success.
- [ ] Implement the guide's dependencies and pagination. Scope IDs to the consumer, connector and company. For writes, prevent duplicates and reconcile uncertain outcomes before retrying.
- [ ] Read back the resulting records or reports and compare them with the source. Verify permissions, reconnect handling, logs and applicable webhook behavior before release.

## Review checklist

- [ ] Review existing code without modifying it or executing API writes. Confirm the language, SDK version, selected company, environment and implemented operations; never request secrets.
- [ ] Limit the audit to the selected workflow. Check current connector operation, field and permission support; label unknown support explicitly and distinguish unified schemas from connector guarantees.
- [ ] Inspect server-side credentials, tenant/consumer/connector/company isolation, connection verification, permissions and reconnect handling.
- [ ] Check dependency IDs, pagination and reconciliation against the source. For implemented writes, inspect duplicate prevention, uncertain outcomes and read-back; for payments, distinguish recording from moving funds.
- [ ] Report confirmed defects separately from open questions and connector limitations. Order findings by severity and include code location, failure scenario, authoritative documentation, suggested fix and a regression test.
- [ ] List checks actually performed, their outcomes and checks not run. Do not infer accounting correctness from an HTTP success or describe unrun tests as passing.

## Customer-admin checklist

- [ ] Confirm the accounting product and edition, company or subsidiary, and whether this is a test or production connection with your integration team.
- [ ] Identify the person allowed to authorize the integration. Check the connector setup guide for the specific role, permissions and prerequisites; these vary by platform.
- [ ] Agree which data the integration can read and which actions it may write. Resolve unsupported requirements with the integration team before connecting.
- [ ] Open the connection flow supplied by your integration team. Follow the maintained connector setup guide and enter credentials only in the designated connection flow.
- [ ] Complete any required company selection and connector settings. Tell the integration team when setup is finished so they can verify access.
- [ ] Review the team's first read or approved test result in the correct company. Agree the production rollout and who will handle future permission or reconnection requests.

This is preparation guidance, not a connection invitation. Your application supplies the actual Vault connection flow. Do not include passwords, API keys or session tokens in handoff documents.
