# How to connect to DualEntry

This guide walks you through connecting your DualEntry account to Apideck through the Vault interface.

DualEntry uses a direct provision model for API access, where API keys are provided by their support team rather than being self-service. This ensures secure and properly configured access to your data.

## Prerequisites

- An active DualEntry account
- Access to either sandbox or production environment
- Contact with your DualEntry representative or access to DualEntry support

## Step 1: Request Your API Key

DualEntry API keys are provided directly by their support team. To obtain your API key:

1. **Contact your DualEntry representative** if you have one assigned to your account
   - Email their support team with your request
   - Specify whether you need sandbox or production API access

2. **Provide the following information when requesting your API key:**
   - Your company name and DualEntry account details
   - The intended use case for the API integration
   - Whether you need sandbox (testing) or production access
   - Any specific permissions or data access requirements

3. **DualEntry support will provide:**
   - Your unique API key
   - Environment-specific endpoint information
   - Any additional setup instructions

## Step 2: Connect in Apideck Vault

Once you have received your API key from DualEntry:

1. **Find the DualEntry connector** in the available integrations
2. **Enter your API key** in the "API Key" field
3. **Save your connection** to save the settings

## Important Notes

- **API Key Security**: Your DualEntry API key is unique to your organization and provides access to sensitive accounting data. Keep it secure and never share it publicly.

- **Environment Specific**: API keys are specific to either sandbox or production environments. Make sure you're using the correct key for your intended environment.

- **Rate Limits**: DualEntry implements rate limiting (30 requests per hour by default). You can ask the Dualentry to increase this if you run into limits.
