Microsoft Dynamics 365 Human Resources – Connection Guide

Service ID: microsoft-dynamics-hr

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Human Resources helps organizations manage employee data, streamline HR processes, and create optimal employee experiences.

How to connect to Microsoft Dynamics HR

To create a connection with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Human Resources, you need your Finance & Operations operations URL — the URL of the Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations environment that hosts your Human Resources data. It has the form https://<org>.operations.dynamics.com.

Prerequisites: you must already have a Dynamics 365 Human Resources / Finance & Operations environment — this is the product you are connecting, and Apideck does not provision it. No app installation is required: Apideck reads the standard, built-in F&O Workers and Employments OData data entities, so there is nothing to install into Dataverse (unlike the deprecated HR virtual-tables approach). You only need the environment's operations URL and a user account with access to it.

To find your operations URL:

  1. Sign in to the Power Platform admin center (or open the Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations app).
  2. Open Environments and select the environment that runs Dynamics 365 Human Resources / Finance & Operations.
  3. Copy the Environment URL — it ends in .operations.dynamics.com (for example https://trial-na-xxxxxxxx.operations.dynamics.com). Alternatively, open the Finance & Operations app and copy the host from your browser's address bar — everything up to .operations.dynamics.com, with no trailing path.
  4. Paste this operations URL into the Organisation URL field in Vault.

Important: use the Finance & Operations operations URL (*.operations.dynamics.com), not the Dataverse/CRM URL (*.crm.dynamics.com). Apideck reads employees from the F&O Workers data entity, whose API host and OAuth token audience is the operations URL.

When you authorize the connection you will sign in with your Microsoft account. That account must have access to this Finance & Operations environment — a user account assigned a security role that can read the HR data entities (Workers, Employments).
