Beta — this connector is in beta. Functionality and resource coverage may change.

At a Glance

Difficulty
⚠️INVOLVEDInvitation-only Plaid data partner onboarding, plus a customer login page the application owner must host and build
Authentication
CustomApideck mints an ingest key for each connection; not OAuth.
Webhooks
No webhooks — neither native nor virtual.
Partnership Required
Yes(Invitation-only onboarding lists your brand as a Plaid institution, with Dashboard tooling and dedicated support; Apideck and Plaid are finalising the terms.)
Apideck Credentials
Not available(No vendor app credentials are involved in this connector.)
Costs
Plaid describes Core Exchange as free for data providers.
Sandbox Availability
Not available(Plaid has no sandbox for this flow. Test with a dedicated connection.)
Account Type Required
An Apideck account with the application configured; no Plaid account is needed to ingest data.
Consumer Access Level
None; the consumer grants nothing to a vendor, and Apideck provisions the connection.
Rate Limits
Plaid publishes no numeric limit for Core Exchange; you write to Apideck's ingest API, and Plaid reads from Apideck, not from you.

Single environment: every connection writes to Apideck's FDX data provider with its own ingest key; there are no separate sandbox credentials.

🚨Important to Know About Plaid Core Exchange

  • Every account needs at least one account holder, email, address and phone number; Plaid fails identity for an account whose contact data is empty. If your records often lack email or phone, raise it with Plaid before launch.
  • Ingest works today, but Plaid cannot read the stored accounts or statements yet: client authentication between Plaid and Apideck is still pending, hence early access. Plaid pulls the data, so a successful write confirms storage, not delivery.
  • You must host a customer login page that verifies Apideck's signed handoff, authenticates the user and signs an assertion in return. The Configuration Guide covers the setup.
