Environments
- Sandbox
- Purpose: build and self-test before DATEV's technical review. Credentials: Apideck's temporary shared sandbox credentials, or your own DATEV app once it subscribes to an API product.
- Production
- Obtaining production credentials from DATEV is a real, separate process gated by a passed technical review. Routing API calls to DATEV's production environment is not yet part of this connector's scope — sandbox is where builds and consumer connections currently run.
🚨Important to Know About DATEV Unternehmen Online
- Creating journal entries, customers and suppliers is mapped to DATEV's EXTF CSV import, and that write path is not yet verified working end-to-end — confirm its current status with Apideck Support before you plan a rollout around it.
- Writes are asynchronous: journal entries and documents are handed to DATEV as batch jobs, so a pushed record can take time to appear in the tax advisor's system and there is no real-time write confirmation.
- Production approval is a one-way door: once it completes, the app cannot be rolled back to sandbox and no further DATEV API products can be added to it.
- Getting listed on the DATEV-Marktplatz is a separate, higher tier: DATEV only considers that application once your service is live with at least 25 customers and you can name 3 reference customers it may contact.
- DATEV Unternehmen Online is a document and data exchange hub between a business and its tax advisor, not a standalone accounting system: the tax advisor must have the relevant DATEV services activated for the client before there is anything to read or write.
